Expected to be the big summer RPG release, Diablo 3 has over shadowed the competition forcing this week’s release to be pretty light, but still allowing for some good title to come out:
May 8th Datura for the PS3
May 8th Phanton Breakers for Xbox 360
May 8th Warlock: Master of the Arcane for PC
May 8th Starhawk for PS3
May 9th Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition for Xbox
May 11th Street Fighter x Tekken for PC
Since both Street Fighter x Tekken and Minecraft are already out for other systems, the game of the week is Starhawk for the PS3. Starhawk is a third-person shooter and successor to the 2007, Warhawk. The most notable change from Warhawk is the addition of a single-player story mode, which was intended to be included in the original incarnation but was removed.
The gameplay is similar and with a new system called, “Build n’ Battle,” allowing players to build structures such as bunkers, defenses, and armories in the midst of battle, giving the game a real time stragety (RTS) feel while remaining a third-person shooter. The game includes flying Mechs called Hawks. A player enters a landing craft allowing them to steer with a limited range of motion to reach the battlefield. Just like Warhawk, there are 32-player online battles giving Starhawk a cooperative mode similar in concept to the Horde Mode in the Gears of War game series.
