In a similar fashion to the Active Time Report videos for Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix has debuted a new series, The Star Log, which will focus on new content and information for the next chapter in the Star Ocean series, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness.
In the first video of The Star Log. Square Enix has debuted a brand new trailer for the upcoming title. This trailer highlight Fidel and his friends journey to protect a mysterious young girl named Relia. Shown in the new story trailer were the games two villains, Pavine and Der-Suul, who are out to capture Relia for unknown reasons, were shown. The hosts also mentioned that, while in the same universe and have a shared history, the game can be played standalone and previous knowledge of past Star Ocean titles is not required. It was also shown that Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness takes place between the second and third Star Ocean game and is the fourth game in the series chronologically.
Also, debuting in this first video were spotlight videos for Fidel and Miki, two of the game’s main cast. Fidel is a young man who, for the past five years, trains people in swordsmanship in the village of Sthal, which he took over from his father. Miki is Fidel’s close, childhood friend who is very protective of him. The spotlight videos also showed off Fidel and Miki’s reserve rush techniques. Reserve rush techniques are special skills which each of the 6 characters have and can either be attack or healing based. For example, Miki’s reserve rush is a mass group heal.
Finally, while not able to confirm a release date, the hosts were able to confirm that Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will have both Japanese and English audio and subtitles.
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is due for release in 2016 by Square Enix for the Playstation 4.
