Powerman 5000 Frontman, Spider One and Actress, Krys Fox Discuss Their Horror Film, ‘Little Bites‘ in Theaters Friday, October 4, 2024.
‘Little Bites‘ is a haunting exploration of parental sacrifice and the lengths one mother will go to protect her child. The film follows Mindy, portrayed by Krys Fox, a young widow grappling with the terrifying presence of Agyar (Jon Sklaroff), a flesh-eating monster. As she desperately attempts to shield her daughter Alice (Elizabeth Phoenix Caro) from this sinister force, Mindy secretly sacrifices her own well-being, allowing Agyar to feast on her body while keeping Alice hidden away at her grandmother’s home.
I had the chance to sit down with Spider One, ‘Little Bites‘s writer, director, and producer, who is also the frontman for the iconic band Powerman 5000. After seeing Powerman 5000 perform at OzzFest years ago, it’s surreal to finally connect with Spider One and discuss this chilling project. Alongside Krys Fox, the star, editor, and producer of ‘Little Bites‘, we delved into the fears that accompany parenthood, especially as Halloween approaches—a time ripe for confronting our darkest anxieties.
Spider One shared that ‘Little Bites‘ draws from his own experiences as a parent. He described the journey as an emotional labyrinth filled with love, pain, triumph, and setbacks. In a world often marked by confusion and cruelty, the struggle to protect one’s child can feel daunting and, at times, futile. This complexity is mirrored in Mindy’s relationship with Agyar, who symbolizes the inner demons every parent faces—his bites represent her pain, his words echo her insecurities, and his very existence challenges her worth as a mother.
‘Little Bites‘ invites audiences to empathize with Mindy, even when her choices leave us bewildered. It reflects the shared reality that none of us have all the answers in this treacherous terrain of parenthood. By framing these genuine struggles within the horror genre, Spider One creates a compelling narrative that resonates on both a personal and universal level.
Notably, ‘Little Bites‘ boasts the support of executive producers Cher and Chaz Bono, adding an intriguing layer to this already fascinating project.
‘Little Bites‘ comes to theaters on Friday, October 4, 2024.
