Las Vegas, Nev. – “Smokin’ Jo” Nattawut, the punishing Muay Thai technician who is a perfect 4-0 under the Lion Fight banner and claimed the promotion’s super welterweight title in May, recently signed a multi-fight extension to compete exclusively for Lion Fight, company president Scott Kent announced Thursday.
Nattawut, 25, has amassed a stellar 54-10-2 pro record that includes a win over former world champ Cosmo Alexandre; a unanimous decision victory
over Sean Kearney (even though Nattawut accepted the fight on a mere 24-hours notice); and a masterful battering of Salah “The Beast” Khalifa that earned Nattawut the Lion Fight 154-pound world title.
Born in Thailand, the motherland of Muay Thai, Nattawut for the past several years has lived and trained in Atlanta, Ga. His first title defense is set for Lion Fight 24, on Sept. 25 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn., against Britain’s Charlie Peters. Praise for Nattawut has been widespread and effusive, with Scott Kent being one of his staunchest admirers.
“Every time I watch Jo Nattawut fight I learn something new,” Kent said. “He is young, hungry and relentless in the ring; he always come to destroy his opponents. Jo Nattawut is one of the best Thai fighters in the world – and one of my favorite fighters to watch in any combat sport. He’s looked unstoppable inside the ring of late and we decided to reward his dominance with a new and exclusive contract. It was a no-brainer.”
