It’s often that we hear about the horrors of the drug cartels and the seemingly endless fight against them along the southern border. The latest film from director Denis Villeneuve, Sicario, follows Emily Blunt as she becomes a foot soldier in the War on Drugs. In a new clip from the film, Blunt leads a raid on a suspicious home only to make a gruesome discovery.
Blunt stars along side Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro, making Sicario a mini-reunion of Inherent Vice. Despite Villeneuve’s reliable track record and the film’s impressive cast and intriguing setting, there’s one reason that Sicario is going to be must-see cinema for me — cinematographer Roger Deakins. The 12-time Oscar nominee consistently crafts some of the most visually arresting cinema in the modern era, and will likely carry on that tradition while presenting Emily Blunt arresting people.
Sicario opens in theaters on September 18th, 2015.
