Shift Happens is instantly the most cleverly titled game out so far this year, and aims to translate that cleverness into compelling gameplay
I’m a sucker for cutesy mascot characters. The Minions were my ringtone since the announcement of Despicable Me 2 and up until I heard the song You’re Welcome. Shift Happens has two blob-like creatures who shift sizes to traverse 4 beautifully rendered stages solving complex and challenging puzzles. First off, that title is brilliant. I love words that sound like or contain word use in the more commonly known saying that has been featured in movies like Forest Gump. I personally gave a rousing presentation by using ‘ship’ in the crappy manner. It’s a tickle to the intellect that makes it feel like you got away with a victimless crime.
Shift Happens is a puzzle platformer for two by Klong Games. It is releasing to the world next week on February 22, 2017, for Xbox One and Steam. The Playstation 4 version will be available a few short weeks after. The game challenges you and a friend/significant other/stranger in the proximity to take control of Bismo and Plom, the blob creatures, that were joined together in a freak accident that grants them the shifting power. Players have to survive 40 levels (30 for solo players) and four unique worlds. “Teamwork” is what the game is about, and you will have to work with your teammate and risk your relationship to win.
Key Features:
* Test your friendship and skills as partners with true cooperative gameplay.
* Play with friends in either local or online multiplayer modes.
* Conquer over 40 levels in co-op mode.
* Complete 30 single-player levels designed specifically for solo players.
