Pop artist and international sensation, Shani talks about her latest single, ‘Oh My‘ available now on all major platforms.
Shani Rigsbee, known as Shani, is a multifaceted American artist renowned for her talents as a singer, composer, and producer. With a career that spans stage, screen, and recordings, she has earned multiple awards and is recognized internationally. Originating from a small town in Arkansas, her passion for rhythm and melody propelled her to Los Angeles after high school, where she refined her skills and immersed herself in diverse musical styles. Shani recently released her new single, ‘Oh My‘, from the album, ‘The Moon Knows‘ and is making waves with sultry sounds. blending funk and an international flair.
In L.A., Shani’s career flourished as she toured, wrote, and recorded with prominent artists, including the internationally acclaimed Iranian-Armenian artist, Andy Madadian. Her work has been prominently featured in film and television. Her contributions to film include co-writing and performing the end title song “Rise‘ for the Warner Bros. film ‘American Wrestler‘, as well as directing its music video. A film that not only connects writer Ali Afshar, Andy Madadian and myself, as I told Shani and Afshar, that if wrestling was replaced with soccer, that movie could have been a biopic of my two older cousins.
Shani also penned the theme song for ‘American Fighter‘, the sequel to ‘American Wrestler‘. Her music appears in several award-winning films, including ‘Crash‘, where her song ‘El Llamar de Pasión‘ featured prominently. Her acting credits range from sultry roles to a detective in *Guardian Angel*, where she also wrote and performed the theme song “Far and Away.”
Her extensive filmography includes significant roles in ‘One Night with the King‘, based on The Book of Esther and ‘The House of Sand and Fog‘, and she served as executive producer and composer for ‘The Keeper – The Legend of Omar Khayyam‘. Early in her career, she gained recognition as the featured vocalist for Sony Playstation’s ‘Parasite Eve‘.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Shani is deeply committed to charitable causes, particularly those supporting vulnerable populations. A survivor of ovarian cancer, she channels her experiences into advocacy work. She founded the nonprofit organization Voices Out, Inc., dedicated to aiding children and animals in distress. Shani continues to produce music, recently completing her album “The Moon Knows,” reflecting her roots in R&B, soul, and jazz, and is currently involved in the film ‘Dark Asset‘, where she also serves as a producer and cast member.
