The smoke-filled nightclub is packed. Anticipation is a communicable disease spread to each individual in the crowd. The lights go down before the music kicks up. When the lights finally present the band on stage, the audience is greeted with a mulleted Denis Leary. At least that’s the basic premise of Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, the new FX comedy featuring Leary as the frontman of a band that flirted with rock ‘n’ roll glory.
As the show gets nearer and nearer to its July 16th premiere, FX has been turning up its promotion to 11. First there’s the behind the scenes look at the show, the “Liner Notes” as they call them. Then there’s a four-part mockumentary rockumentary about the history of Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll‘s fictional band The Heathens, who are not to be confused with the ’60s garage band of the same name from Schenectady, New York.
Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll premieres in all its glorious rock ‘n’ roll excess on Thursday July 16th at 10pm only on FX.
