What year is it? I’m just kind of confused because this latest trailer for San Andreas seems like it belongs either as a mid-’70s Charlton Heston film or one of those revival disaster flicks that were prominent in the mid-’90s. Well, I guess since we’re in the mid-’10s, we’re overdue for a renewed fascination with disaster movies. Like so many of those disaster movies, San Andreas features an expansive cast of talent, like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Colton Haynes, Carla Gugino, Ioan Gruffudd, and Paul Giamatti, just to name a few. No word yet on whether they were able to secure a George Kennedy cameo and really make this a legitimate throwback disaster movie. While the carnage here looks bad, it is only a fraction of the damage that Superman caused at the end of Man of Steel. Directed by Brad Peyton, San Andreas shakes up movie screens on May 29th, 2015.
