The San Antonio Film Festival celebrates 30 years of bringing Hollywood to Texas with over 200 films July 30 to August 4, 2024.
Running from July 30 to August 4, 2024, the San Antonio Film Festival (SAFilm) celebrates its 30th Anniversary showcasing over 200 films at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and the Radius Center. The festival will be brimming with nightly after-parties, live performances, and interactive experiences to commemorate this significant milestone. The full schedule is available online at www.safilm.com.
“It’s a milestone,” exclaims Executive Director and Founder Adam Rocha. “What started as a humble underground movie night with a pay-what-you-can policy has blossomed into a grand six-day celebration featuring independent and studio films, industry VIPs, and city-wide parties.” Rocha, who also teaches film, reflects with pride on the festival’s evolution and its impact on San Antonio, South Texas, and the broader film community.
As the San Antonio Film Festival celebrates its milestone anniversary, excitement is building for what promises to be a landmark event. We spoke with SAFilm Committee Member Lennon Maldonado and ‘Rhino Man,’ Director John Jurko II about what to expect from this year’s festival and the significance of the film’s screening in San Antonio, TX.
‘Rhino Man,’ directed by John Jurko II, Matt Lindenberg, and Daniel Robert, will be a key highlight of the festival. The film courageously chronicles the lives of field rangers who risk everything to protect South Africa’s rhinos from extinction. Speaking with Lennon Maldonado and John Jurko II, it’s clear that the screening of ‘Rhino Man,’ at SAFilm is not only a significant opportunity to raise awareness but also a powerful testament to the dedication and bravery of those on the front lines of conservation.
The inclusion of ‘Rhino Man,’ in this year’s festival underscores SAFilm’s commitment to spotlighting impactful, socially relevant stories. As the festival celebrates three decades of cinematic excellence, the screening of this compelling documentary aligns perfectly with its mission to celebrate and elevate important global issues through the medium of film.
VIP Badges, priced at $149.99, offer priority access to all films, industry panels, and the Filmmakers Lounge (open daily from 5-7pm).
