Writer and Artist, Rob Harrell is the Man Who Inspired Paramount+’s ‘Rumble‘, Streaming on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
Writer and artist, Rob Harrell’s original graphic novel, ‘Monster on the Hill‘ is the inspiration for the Paramount+ adaptation entitled ‘Rumble.’
Harrell originally published via Top Shelf Productions, an IDW Publishing imprint back in 2014. Harrell was dealing with cancer at the time and decided to create what is now a beloved childhood graphic novel.
Thankfully, Harrell survived his battle with cancer but suffered vision loss in one eye. However, he says he’s happy to be with us and to see the adaptation for ‘Monster on the Hill‘ with an incredible voice over cast featuring Will Arnett, Terry Crews, Ben Schwartz, Rebecca Quinn (WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch) and Joe Anoa’i (WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns) to name a few.
Where as Harrell’s ‘Monster on the Hill‘ takes place in 1860s England as each town’s unique monster is a source of local pride and tourism, ‘Rumble‘ has a more contemporary setting along similar lines but features some of the best animated wrestling seen…well, ever.
Although ‘Rumble‘ is inspired by Harrell’s ‘Monster on the Hill‘, the two very distinct stories share one thing in common, they are both underdog stories that overcome adversity and set backs, which is something we need today.
‘Monster on the Hill‘ was released via Top Shelf Productions in 2020 and with the release of ‘Rumble‘ this week, gives us two entertaining stories that will delight children and families.
Harrell states in our interview above that he will be heading to his parents home to watch ‘Rumble‘ on Paramount+, as they are a bit tech challenged in setting up the streaming service on their own. He is also considering a sequel to ‘Monster on the Hill‘ but isn’t quite sure if it will follow the original graphic novel or divert and follow the animated feature’s tale instead. Either way, whatever Harrell will put on paper will be a treat for his audience.
