Sadly, the series Review starring Andy Daly never caught on with audiences. It’s a damn shame as the show is consistently one of the funniest shows on television. Daly starred as Forrest MacNeil, a hapless reviewer who reviews various life experiences suggested by his viewers which has detrimental effects of the life and family of MacNeil. From its very first episode, Review showed that it was willing to push its concept to extremes and those extremes carried over into its crazed second season, which concluded with MacNeil and his producer (played by James Urbaniak) missing and presumed dead. It was either the perfect conclusion for the series or a loose end to be picked up in a third season. With its fate sitting in limbo since its season finale, it is being reported today in The Hollywood Reporter that Daly and Comedy Central have struck a deal that will conclude Review with an abbreviated third season.
According to the report, there are no set number of episodes or plans on how to present these final episodes. It’s ultimately a good news/bad news situation. Of course, more Review is always a good thing and it’s sad to see it end so soon, but knowing that Daly will be able to close out the misadventures of Forrest MacNeil on his own terms is the silver lining to this news.
If you’re unfamiliar with Review, the first two season are currently streaming on HuluPlus and definitely worth your time. It may be hard to watch too many of them back-to-back as you’ll likely be out of breath watching Forrest MacNeil subjecting himself and his loved ones to unspeakable horrors in search of the truth. I give Review five stars.
