Unboxing Quarterly Co’s Naomi Kyle Box – It’s Like Getting a Really Thoughtful Gift

GameStop, Inc.

Quarterly Co’s Naomi Kyle Box adds a personal touch to a very cool nerd box. If you haven’t heard of Quarterly Co, they are a quarterly subscription box service that ships out personally curated boxes. Their boxes are themed and/or curated by celebrities to add a nice personal touch and extra thought into what items go into the box. Curators for Quarterly Co include Jeremy Lin, Pharrell Williams, Bill Nye, Wil Wheaton, and much more.

We received the Naomi Kyle Box (of Q4 2015), which was full of nerdy goodness. Naomi Kyle is an actress, host, and personality, most recognizable from IGN’s news show The Daily Fix. Her box was full of items from all over the nerd spectrum; there was gaming, movies, comics, fashion, and even a bit for the spirits. Also, every Quarterly Box comes with a signed personal letter from the creator explaining each item and why it was chosen to be in the box.

In our Naomi Kyle Box, we received the following: video games (plural), socks, a pop vinyl, comic book, a sticker, and a cool tool. Check it all in this picture or scroll past for me to list them.

Naomi Kyle Box

We’ll start with the gamer socks from “Sock It To Me!” who has a great name for a sock company, as well as a great pair featuring controllers of various consoles all over them. The array of controllers is impressive, and red happens to be my color. The Fort Standard Prism Corkscrew from Areaware is an awesome corkscrew for those pesky corks that prevent you from consuming your “beverage.” I Like how it doesn’t have a clamp like many wine openers, but I can also see that be a problem. However, the hexagonal design is very appealing. The print of the sound wave is actually a Sound Viz Art Piece. Sound Viz combines music, art, and technology, to turn sounds into visual art. This print is actually a song written and recorded by miss Kyle herself titled Oracle. She says in her letter we’ll get to hear it soon. The killer cupcake sticker is custom from Johnny Cupcakes.

Next in the box is Guardians of the Galaxy Issue #1 part of the All-New line up. It’s a great choice for a comic book, and it’s especially considerate being an issue #1. I’m not all that juiced about it because I have it already. The Yoda Pop! Vinyl is a nice touch, the box originally released in December so it was perfect timing to really compliment the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakes. I feel a character from the new movie would have been more appropriate. Then we have not one, but two video games: The Crew and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Both games are from Ubisoft, and both are great games. Rainbow Six Siege especially a nice touch as it a huge game, and considering the time-table, was a huge addition to the box.

Quarterly Co’s Naomi Kyle Box was like receiving a very thoughtful gift. Even though not all the items were must haves, it all felt very thoughtful and the effort is very much appreciated. It doesn’t seem like a random grab of items were just thrown in there. The items along with the personal note help add a real personal connection to it all. Not to mention the self-designed logo, and the truly unique art print. Not every item was a knock-out, but Rainbow Six Siege, sound wave art print, the prism wine opener, and gamer socks had me on the canvas like Pacquiao had Bradley in the 9th.  I use that metaphor to signify, this box is a winner!

Quarterly Co is releasing the next Naomi Kyle box shortly, to get yours, or one of the boxes from one of the many other curators, head over to Quarterly.co
