I know it’s wrong, but Jupiter and Mars kind of makes me root for the end of the world
If there is reincarnation, and if the world does end, I’m completely cool with being reborn as a dolphin in the world of Jupiter and Mars. While I must admit I was initially disappointed this wasn’t related to Ecco, I quickly forgot about it after being absorbed into the game’s technicolor apocalypse. Jupter and Mars is created by Tigertron. Tigertron is a game studio that creates games that we grew up loving with the inspiration of the environmental activism that is encoded through their DNA. From the trailer, it seems to be a perfect mesh. I can’t wait to play the game, and at the same time, I can understand the implications of like climate change and pollution without it feeling heavy handed or preachy.
Jupiter and Mars will be playable in standard non-VR format, but Tigertron’s Creative Director, James Mielke, says the game really shines in VR.
“…when you put the headset on. You’re suddenly in a vibrant, pulsating underwater world where you’ll see familiar places in an all-new context, and that’s pretty exciting when you’re in a virtual reality setting. We’re really putting the work in to make this a 360-degree experience, offering equal parts visuals, audio, and haptic feedback.” – James Meilke
The game is set to release in May 2018 and will have plenty of surprises and announcements along the way. From the trailer, the game looks incredible. The creation of the world underwater and infusion of neon lights creates a perfect harmony of nature and technology. There’s a simultaneous stimulation of grandiose structures and technology inspired patterning that creates a sense of both familiarity and futuristic. The only downside is that I find myself rooting for the end of the world (this is a joke). Anyway, stay tuned for the updates, and check out some screenshots from the game below.
