Producers Kelly Faltis and Laurine Price, who also stars in the series, talk about their independently produced show ‘Phoenix‘.
The series ‘Phoenix‘ follows the intense journey of “Jane Doe,” who, after a catastrophic plane crash, struggles with amnesia and a troubling belief that she might be an assassin. As the story progresses, it becomes evident that Jane herself is the target. To survive, she must uncover the mysteries of her past while entangled in a dangerous world of global corporate espionage, biomedical experimentation, and human trafficking.
‘Phoenix‘ is seven-episode series is currently airing exclusively on Vizio TV until September, 2024. We had the opportunity to speak with producers Kelly Faltis and Laurine Price—who also stars as Jane Doe—about the ‘Phoenix‘ series, their aspirations for future seasons, and the significance of independent television production. They emphasized how crucial it is for independent TV to thrive alongside independent filmmaking, particularly in an era where AI technologies are increasingly poised to dominate the production landscape.
Brian Lambert, the showrunner and director of ‘Phoenix‘, was brought on during the Covid pandemic, with Faltis ensuring that safety measures were strictly observed on set. At one point, Faltis tells a story in how they almost lost their testing supplier, which almost shut down the entire production of the series for a moment.
The cast of ‘Phoenix‘ includes notable talents such as Star Trek alumni Garrett Wang, who plays Agent Marc Wan from *Star Trek: Voyager*, and Domini Keating of *Star Trek: Enterprise*, who portrays Billy Blue. Their performances, alongside those of Laurine Price, Grace Byers as Boz, and Kathleen Kinmont as Rebecca, add tremendous depth and excellence to the series.
‘Phoenix‘ currently streams exclusively on Vizio TV through September, 2024.
