Pete Bollinger and Eric Rafael Ibarra Talks ‘Cholo Zombies: Monstro’ – Interview

GameStop, Inc.

Producer, Pete Bollinger and Co-Director, Eric Rafael Ibarra Talks About the Horror-Comedy ‘Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ now Streaming on Tubi and Prime Video.

Editor’s Note: Eric Rafael Ibarra joins us during the second half of the interview.

Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ is a riotous rollercoaster of laughter and gore that will leave audiences howling for more brains and belly laughs. Following its triumphant debut on ChicanoHollywood.TV, this uproarious sequel has shambled onto other streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime and Tubi, where it’s infecting viewers with its infectious blend of horror and hilarity.

Directed by the dynamic duo of Eric Rafael Ibarra and Mark Newton, and boasting a stellar cast led by the incomparable Vince Romo as the titular Monstro and the delightful Loretta Vampz as Vampz, this film has rightfully claimed its place as the “Best Horror Movie” at the Hollywood Global Film Festival, with Romo’s performance earning him the well-deserved accolade of “Best Actor.”

There may be some bias as having worked with Producer, Pete Bollinger and Ibarra on, ‘Cholo Zombies‘ (which I have yet to see) as the voice of the demon with legendary comedian Paul Rodriguez, ‘Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ has a couple of the same cast members, picking up where Monstro and Vampz in but shifting directions into a Cholo love story.

From the moment the blood starts gushing and the zombies begin their hunt for sustenance, ‘Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ grips audiences with its wickedly twisted humor, reminiscent of classics like ‘The Munsters‘ and ‘Beetlejuice.’ As Monstro navigates the challenges of keeping his undead family intact amidst new laws restricting their dietary options, the film delivers savage carnage for horror aficionados while seamlessly blending in laugh-out-loud comedy and unexpected zombie romance.

With a production dream team including the likes of Bollinger’s, Cedar Films Studios, and Daniel Wood,’Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ expertly picks up where its predecessor left off, infusing the narrative with a fresh dose of zombie gore and a delightful horror romantic comedy twist. As Vampz goes to extraordinary lengths to reunite with her beloved Monstro and subsequently discovers the joys (and challenges) of zombie parenthood, the film takes audiences on a wild, uproarious ride.

Romo and Vampz’s on-screen chemistry is electrifying as they navigate the trials and tribulations of undead love and parenthood. From Vampz’s desire for marital bliss to Monstro’s reluctance, their journey is both heartwarming and side-splittingly funny. As they grapple with the complexities of their relationship amidst the chaos of a zombie apocalypse, audiences can’t help but root for this lovestruck undead duo to find their happily ever after.

Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ is a gruesomely delightful romp that proves love truly knows no bounds—even in the undead world. With its uproarious humor, stellar performances, and infectious charm, this film is a must-watch for anyone craving a deliciously twisted blend of horror and hilarity. So grab your popcorn, brace yourself for some gut-busting laughs, and join Monstro and Vampz on their hilariously undead journey. You won’t regret it!

Cholo Zombies: Monstro‘ is now Streaming on Tubi and Prime Video.
