Josh Gad returns as Olaf the loveable Snowman from Frozen in the Disney+ exclusive short film, Once Upon a Snowman.
Josh Gad the voice of Olaf in the Frozen franchise returns for the Disney+ short film, Once Upon a Snowman. In this Frozen side journey, Olaf seeks out to find his identity (as you can see from the trailer) and goes on a wild adventure in filled with wolves, skiing and sausages.
Just like everything else Disney and Disney+ touch, they know how to evoke emotions in their audience and through that , this short film is yet another film that you wish Disney would turn into a full length feature. Quite frankly, I wish this one short would lead to an entire television series on Disney+ or Disney Channel for Olaf, but for now, as we patiently wait for winter we get a taste of it in Once Upon a Snowman.

The previously untold origins of Olaf, the innocent and insightful, summer-loving snowman who melted hearts in the Academy Award®-winning 2013 Disney animated feature, Frozen, and its acclaimed 2019 sequel, are revealed in the all-new Walt Disney Animation Studios animated short, Once Upon a Snowman. The film follows Olaf’s first steps as he comes to life and searches for his identity in the snowy mountains outside Arendelle. Once Upon a Snowman is directed by Trent Correy (animation supervisor, “Olaf” in Frozen 2) and Dan Abraham (veteran story artist who boarded Olaf’s “When I Am Older” musical sequence in Frozen 2) and will debut exclusively on Disney+ October 23, 2020.
I continuously say that the problem with short films is if they are terrible they drag on forever and if they are wonderful, you want a lot more. Once Upon a Snowman is that short film that you want to last another 90 minutes.
