From being everyone’s favorite arachnid in ‘Spider-Man‘ to the style of Muay Thai, Nicholas Hammond talks ‘Art of Eight Limbs‘ available August 20, 2024, on VOD.
Actor Nicholas Hammond was born in Washington, D.C., to Colonel Thomas W. Hammond and actress Eileen Bennett, making sure that he was destined to be in the film, ‘Art of Eight Limbs.’
Mr. Hammond and I had a fun exchange about his role as the first live-action Spider-Man and how it playfully connects to his current project, ‘Art of Eight Limbs‘, even sharing fond memories of being our favorite web-head, wall-crawler. Given his father’s background in the U.S. military, it was amusing to think of it as a fitting foundation for Nicholas’s portrayal of a CIA operative in this film. We joked that his father’s career seemed like a perfect blueprint for his role, but alas there were no musical numbers for him since his time as the young Friedrich in 1965’s , ‘The Sound of Music‘.
‘Art of Eight Limbs‘ stars Nicholas alongside Ludi Lin (from ‘Mortal Kombat‘ and ‘Mortal Kombat 2‘) and Sahajak Boonthanakit (known for ‘Only God Forgives‘ and ‘Thirteen Lives‘). The film’s logline reads: “When missing Syrian nerve gas turns up in the hands of an international arms dealer in Myanmar, a junior CIA analyst and kickboxing champion is sent undercover to infiltrate a secret martial arts tournament, where the deadly gas will be sold to terrorists.”
Nicholas’s acting career began at age 6 when his family moved to Europe. A pivotal moment came in 1959 when his mother took him to see the musical ‘My Fair Lady‘ in London, which ignited his passion for acting. After returning to the U.S., he landed his first role in ‘Lord of the Flies‘ (1963) and went on to make a mark on Broadway and television. Despite the lack of musical numbers in ‘Art of Eight Limbs‘, Nicholas relishes the filmmaking process and continues to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm.
‘Art of Eight Limbs‘ is available August 20, 2024, on VOD from Republic Pictures.
