Netflix’s Shadow and Bone announces it’s April 2021 release date with a gorgeous, but uninformative, teaser trailer
Outside the incredibly majestic snow-colored elk, Netflix’s Shadow and Bone announcement teaser trailer tells me very little about the show. This whole first impression I’m writing is prior to me reading the logline and about from Netflix, which I will share. But I just want to share what I think it’s about based on the trailer as I feel many will be in the same boat. I’m assuming it’s a fantasy series based in the fantasy genre. Definitely a deeper cut, but still popular, much like GoT was when it started. I feel there will be more magic in this one, and maybe druids because of that majestic elk. I also predict prophecies and a chosen one.
So let me share the official series information from the Netflix Press Release:
Based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, Shadow and Bone finds us in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive.
Shadow and Bone is a Netflix production from 21 Laps Entertainment, starring Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), and Ben Barnes (General Kirigan).
I feel like I nailed it. I wouldn’t set fantasy is a favorite genre of mine, but I tend to always enjoy properties from the genre; Harry Potter, GoT, LotR, Dungeons and Dragons. So, I’m definitely for it. Plus magic seems to be a big part, and I feel GoT didn’t use enough magic. I also still need to watch The Witcher. Anyway, the series is set to release on Netflix in April 2021, read below for the official series information from Netflix.
