Everything Arriving and Leaving Netflix for October 2017

Another month, another time to check and see what’s coming to Netflix, and, more importantly, what’s going to disappear from the streaming service. This October sees Netflix adding Stanley Kubrick‘s final film Eyes Wide Shut, Paul Thomas Anderson‘s classic porno drama Boogie Nights, the latest return of the killer doll in Cult of Chucky, Quentin Tarantino‘s violent and divisive The Hateful Eight, and many more. As for the original content that Netflix is unveiling in the coming month includes the highly anticipated second season of Stranger Things, the documentary The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson, a new stand-up comedy special from Patton Oswalt, and the brand new film from writer-director Noah Baumbach The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). All in all, it’s going to be a good month for those looking for something different on Netflix.

Which brings us to the bad news. Some really great stuff is leaving the streaming service at the start of October. Anyone hoping to watch The Shining before Halloween has until October 1st to watch Kubrick’s classic horror film. All seven season of 30 Rock will be leaving Netflix for good, as will The Wonder Years and Friday Night Lights. Other great movies that are departing include Guillermo Del Toro‘s Hellboy, David Lynch‘s Mullholland Drive, and the Coen Brothers‘ Barton Fink (at least the film is finally available on Blu-ray thanks to Kino Lorber Studio Classics).
