Maggie Q (Gen-Y Cops, Nikita, Young Justice) Talks About her Role as Anna in Action Thriller, The Protégé from Lionsgate in theaters August 20, 2021.
I first became of Maggie Q in the film Gen-Y Cops and her work has had me hooked as a fan ever since. Q has been apart of many franchises including The Divergent series and continues her action heroine ways in The Protégé from Lionsgate opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Batman himself, Michael Keaton.
What makes Q’s performance as Anna so appealing is that it is a multi-layered character who has faced tragedy from an early age and can blend in so easily from her immigrant roots, to her keeping everyone at an arm’s distance, except for her adopted father and even shows signs of vulnerability all without having once to posture and profess she is a strong woman, because she clearly is a strong person.
Official Synopsis:
Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled contract killer. But when Moody – the man who was like a father to her and taught her everything she needs to know about trust and survival – is brutally killed, Anna vows revenge. As she becomes entangled with an enigmatic killer (Michael Keaton) whose attraction to her goes way beyond cat and mouse, their confrontation turns deadly and the loose ends of a life spent killing will weave themselves even tighter.
Directed by Martin Campbell and written by Richard Wenk, the film is produced by Arthur Sarkissian, Moshe Diamant, Rob Van Norden, Yariv Lerner, and Chris Milburn.
The Protégé from Lionsgate comes to theaters August 20, 2021.
