Geeks are smart. Geeks also have a knack of using their knowledge and transforming it into interesting and new forms. That is what Super Graphic is: one geek’s love song to the comic books he loves. Tim Leong is graphic designer and one of Wired magazine’s art directors. He used his geek knowledge to create infographics, timelines, diagrams, flow charts, and graphs that capture random and useful information about comic books.
Leong took on a mighty challenge when he decided to take convoluted comic book information that spans multiverses, publishers, and years and make it digest-able. He doesn’t stick with the big two, Marvel and DC, but presents infographics on Image, Walt Disney Comics, Dark Horse, and other publishers. While most of the content is drawn from everyone’s favorite superheroes, he touches on other genres and even includes some information on Comic-Con.
Many graphics are useful for a weekly comic book reading, such as the Batman Family chart or the stats of Marvel Universe heroes. Others are plain astounding like the Walking Dead character killed list and color charts for super hero costumes. Some of the graphics are placed in just for fun, noted by their lack of verifiable data, but the rest of the book was been meticulously researched.
Super Graphic is not only a comic book resource tool, but also fun stuff for the data geeks!
