As seen above, the first image we saw of Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher was his Frank Castle standing over a chained Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox). Of course, Daredevil and Punisher have had a love/hate relationship in the comics decades. Now they’re finally facing each other in Daredevil Season 2, which premieres in exactly one month. The latest promotional art released by Netflix features The Man Without Fear shackled in chains around a chimney, an obvious nod to that image of Castle standing over the red hero.
In its first season, Daredevil established a darker corner of the Marvel Universe. It wasn’t quite a perfect first season, but it was good enough to prove that Netflix and Marvel could push the boundaries of what was viewed as the typical superhero fare being pushed by Marvel. My only concern with this second season is that might become overstuffed with the inclusion of Frank Castle and Elodie Yung as Elektra. The first trailer for Daredevil Season 2 hit earlier this week and a second trailer is set to go up in exactly one week on February 25th.
The soul of Hell’s Kitchen hangs in the balance when Daredevil Season 2 premieres on March 18th only on Netflix. The official synopsis for Daredevil:
Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the superhero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) is joined by a stellar cast including Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), Elodie Yung (Elektra), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), and Scott Glenn (Stick).
Marvel’s Daredevil is Executive Produced by series Co-Showrunners Marco Ramirez (Sons Of Anarchy, Fear The Walking Dead) and Douglas Petrie (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story), along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.
