Penelope Spheeris surveyed the late-70s Los Angeles Punk Rock scene in The Decline of Western Civilization and it’s sequel revisited the Sunset Strip and the metal scene. They were both raw, gritty and eye opening. However, film cannot always capture the imagination, which allows comics to go one step further in storytelling.
Enter Simon Oliver and the scene not being LA Punk Rock, but London, going beyond the downward spiral of decadence picture a fantasy world that leads to espionage where if James Bond villains were punks…and the heroes, you would have Last Gang in Town.
Oliver and artist Rufus Dayglo along with inker Giulia Brusco take an idea that could have been another bland crime story and give it a kick in the teeth that is needed for a series that span decades.
