Rubble Without a Cause, King’s Quest Chapter 2 Review [PC-Steam]
Heavy is the head that wears the crown as Graham’s choices determine who lives and dies – King’s Quest Chapter 2 Review
Decisions, decisions, decisions… Graham is the new king of Daventry and he is now responsible for seemingly every decision about the kingdom’s being. The decisions needing to be made are fast and plenty and Graham needs a moment to breathe. So he decides to head into town to grab a pastry and calm his nerves. When Graham gets into town, no one seems to be around, and he as he turns around to ponder why he is kidnapped by Goblins. The goblins throw Graham in a cell, then eventually start making him do their chores. While doing chores, Graham is able to explore and discovers that the townspeople have been captured. Now Graham must adventure through the Goblin lair, finding a way to keep everyone healthy, while finding a way to escape, and also get his chores done. Every decision matters, and every life hangs in the balance.
King’s Quest – Chapter 2: Rubble Without a Cause is an extremely heavy chapter. Your decisions and actions immediately impact the story. You are given impossible decisions that decide the lives of your townspeople, and a unicorn/goat. You also have to complete your chores. It’s stressful in a good way. It is a brilliant balancing act of the needs of others, as well as yourself. You often have to decide if your own health matters more than the others. Which often cases it does, as you are the only one able to make a difference. I believe it is a great test of character and leadership. You are thrown into a situation that is far bigger than yourself, and most solve it as you discover the picture. There is no one right way to do it, and you do the best you can dealing with the consequences of your actions. They even have an outsider who criticizes every decision you make and claiming they can do better.
King’s Quest Chapter 2 is fantastic. It is a heart-pounding thriller wrapped in a mild paced adventure peppered with humor. They also add the skip feature, which prevents wasted time on repeat animations. There is still more walking than I would like, and some needlessly tedious tasks like stopping at a water fountain at every area to keep a rose from wilting. Despite some minor tediousness, chapter 2 is absolutely brilliant. They sum up the intensity of the chapter in the very beginning and draw it out brilliantly throughout the rest of it. It is an anxiety-inducing adventure that captures the heaviness of leadership in the most fun ways possible. My King’s Quest Chapter 2 Review is a 9/10.
