The Kickboxer movies just keep on kickin’ on. Before MMA was a sports phenomenon generating billions of dollars a year, Jean-Claude Van Damme brought the art of fighting to audiences with 1989’s Kickboxer. Following a number of sequels, Kickboxer was revived in 2016 with Kickboxer: Vengeance, which saw Alain Moussi taking over the franchise as Kurt Sloane, a fighter out to avenge the death of his brother. The Kickboxer saga continues with the latest iteration, Kickboxer: Retaliation, continuing the frenzied action adventures of Kurt Sloane in Thailand.
Also returning to the world of Kickboxer is Jean-Claude Van Damme, who this time takes on a mentor role for Moussi’s Kurt Sloane. Other legendary figures to appear in director Dimitri Logothetis’ action sequel include former heavyweight champion and boxing icon Mike Tyson and the Highlander himself Christopher Lambert.
Ahead of Kickboxer: Retaliation’s debut on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-ray on March 13th from Well Go USA Entertainment, we’ve been given an exclusive behind the scenes clip for the film. In the clip, MMA fighter Fabrico Werdum discusses the challenges presented in filming his scenes in the action sequel.
Check out the clip below and check out the high-kickin’ action Kickboxer: Retaliation on March 13th.
The official synopsis for Kickboxer: Retaliation:
One year after finding vengeance for his murdered brother, MMA champion Kurt Sloane finds himself back in Thailand – kidnapped and imprisoned there by a powerful gangster (Christopher Lambert). His only shot at freedom is to win an underground death match against a 400lb killer enhanced with state-of the-art drugs (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson). To make it out alive, he seeks training unlike anything he’s ever endured, with the help of the legendary Master Durand (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and fellow prisoner Briggs (Mike Tyson).
