Justice League: War is the latest DC Entertainment animated feature to hit Blu-Ray and DVD. Based on the Geoff Johns and Jim Lee reimagined Justice League from the New 52.
The one question on everyone’s mind was, Why was Aquaman replaced by Shazam! (aka Captain Marvel) in this adaptation of Justice League?
“I spoke with Geoff Johns at length about the changes. We didn’t want it to be an exact copy of the comic. You can go home and read the book and they will sound exactly the way you want them to sound in your head. You wouldn’t need the movie. This way we could stay true to the original story, but have it as its own stand alone feature,” said screen writer, Heath Corson.
Phillip Bourassa, the character designer, took Lee’s original artwork and adapted them for this go-around, professing Lee’s influence on his own style, which you will be able to notice this 88 minute feature.
Justice League: War made every splash page of the six-issue origin come to life. Just when think Jay Oliva has reached his zenith, he tops himself yet again.
Enhancing the visuals was no easy task and no one other than Andrea Romano could have put such a flawless cast together to voice these characters that have reached mythical status.
“It was a lot of fun playing around this with one. I had three smart asses to work with in The Flash (Christopher Gorham), Green Lantern (Justin Kirk) and Captain Marvel (Sean Astin),” said Romano.
The Justice League is the ultimate team of superheroes and DC Entertainment’s animated feature team understand that better than anyone else. Wonder Woman (Michelle Monaghan) mentions being among a pantheon of gods in the feature, well the true pantheon are the artists that were able to put this feature together.
