‘The Death of Snow White‘ is a darker reimagining of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairytale, infused with horror and a medieval edge. Directed by Jason Brooks, this version of Snow White is a far cry from the traditional tale, featuring a self-mutilating evil queen, bloodthirsty dwarves, and terrifying dark forest creatures. With brutal violence, practical special effects, and a more expansive storyline, it’s a chilling cinematic experience.
Brooks, known for his work on ‘Friday the 13th: Vengeance 2 Bloodlines‘ and his extensive background in special effects through his company Real Fiction Studios FX, brings a unique, horror-driven vision to ‘The Death of Snow White‘. With decades of experience in the genre, Brooks delivers a visually stunning and terrifying reimagining of the classic story. In an effort to ground the film in authenticity, he hired real dwarves for the roles of the magnificent seven, adding a visceral sense of reality to the production.
Made on a budget of roughly $750,000 and show in Washington state, ‘The Death of Snow White‘ was created through the collaboration of Real Fiction Studios, STL Productions, and Newton to Newton Productions, in marketing partnership with Peter Anthony Productions.
In this version of Snow White’s story, the princess is pursued by her evil stepmother, who seeks her heart to gain eternal beauty. However, Snow White’s true battle lies within the dark forest, where she forms an unlikely alliance with seven murderous dwarves—each with a horrifying talent for gruesome killings.
Sanae Loutsis (‘Friday the 13th: Vengeance 2 Bloodlines‘, ‘The Black String‘, ‘The Parish‘) stars as Snow White, leading a strong cast in this chilling fantasy. The film is composed by Andrew Scott Bell (‘Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey‘ Parts 1 & 2) to craft a haunting and atmospheric score.
Not for the faint-hearted, ‘The Death of Snow White‘ is a film that pushes the boundaries of horror and dark fantasy. It’s a brutal, shocking take on the fairy tale, featuring live-action performances by little people actors and practical special effects that will leave audiences both horrified and mesmerized. This bold reimagining will captivate adults and horror fans, offering a fresh and original experience in a genre that’s rarely seen on the big screen.
