Jack Bauer is back in action in IDWs “24 Underground” #1 and it is way too much fun! This series will show what our hero Jack was up to while he wast in hiding between TV series. Seems like he almost had a simple life: found a girl and settled down. Sadly trouble found him when terrorists (hey it wouldn’t be a ’24’ story with out terrorists) make trouble with a friend. Of course, Jack Bauer being Jack Bauer, can’t sit back and let the bad guys win. Ed Brisson did a great job with this story and really brought the TV show to paper in this book.
Michael Gaydos and Josh Burcham brough the story alive with thier art. Burcham did a phenominal job on colors and each page was very pleasing to the eye. Gaydos did very well with the art allowing faces and places to be recognizable. I loved the different colors representing different aspects of the fight scenes. For instance red was used when Jack is stabbed and when he attacks the bad guy. It really brought a sense of excitment and urgency to the scene.
Poor Jack. He just can’t have a simple life. This comic was a blast to read and overall very well done. As a ’24’ fan I can’t wait to see where this story goes. This is going to be way too much fun. I hughly suggest any Jack Bauer fan give this series a try. I don’t think you will be dissapointed at all.
