Ever since the character of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) was introduced in the Gotham season one episode The Blind Fortune Teller, viewers have speculated on whether or not he was the show’s version of the Joker. Many of the signs are there; the maniacal laugh, the grin, and the Joker-esque way in which he carries himself. Yet it could all be a bit of misdirection on the showrunners’ part. However, I doubt this new trailer for next week’s episode, The Last Laugh, will do much to dissuade the speculators. Still, he’s arguably the best character this season so far. And I don’t see that changing any time soon, Joker or not.
Gordon and Bullock track down a nemesis from the past, leading to a standoff between Jerome (guest star Cameron Monaghan) and Gordon. Meanwhile, a magic show at the Gotham Children’s Hospital gala turns into a hostage situation.
