Interview With Nadeshot on Settle The Beef:
Alex: For all the fans here at FanBoyNation who aren’t familiar with who you are, can you give them a short bio of yourself?
Nadeshot: I’m a former professional Call of Duty player that spent over a decade competing against other competitive players while traveling the world. Just striving to become the best Call of Duty players in the world, my team and I have won many different championships, won tons of prize money, even became X Games gold medalist. After having all these experiences in professional gaming, I transitioned into becoming a Youtuber. Creating daily content that people enjoy and where I can put a smile on their faces. while using video games as a platform to where I can make things more creative and live life in a more positive way.
Alex: Was your transition from gaming into YouTube something that happened gradually over time or was there a time where you firmly decided to switch your focus over to YouTube?
Nadeshot: Call of Duty has always been something that I always wanted to do. Being good at Call of Duty was the only thing I was focused on. It started as a hobby, just like how it does for everyone else. Then I found out that I was pretty good at it and then I eventually found the competitive world and wanted to get even better. Competitive gaming eventually became the platform where I could launch from.
At the time, I was going to school and working full time. After my team and I won the first-ever Call of Duty XP tournament in 2011. Our 4 man team won about $400,000 overall grand prize. I used that money as savings to move out of my parents’ house and attempt to start taking YouTube as a full-time gig. So I would say in the year 2011 – 2012.
Alex: So for Settle The Beef, how did that come about? Did it just fall onto your lap or did you reach out to Slim Jim for a spot on the show?
Nadeshot: Slim Jim and I just found an opportunity to collaborate. We both have visions that aligned in many different ways. They were looking for someone that could Settle The Beef. There are so many different debates that happen in the gaming world, so I’m pretty much going to be hosting the debate online haha.
We are going to talk about:
- which consoles are better
- which games are better
- and all the other arguments that always come up in the gaming world
Settle The Beef is all about getting to the bottom of these questions. I’m really excited to work with Slim Jim on it and I’m really looking forward to seeing my fans come watch. It really does work out well, Slim Jim goes hand in hand since it’s the perfect snack to eat while gaming and I like how they are trying to get more involved into the gaming world.
Alex: Yes! Especially now since E-Sports has been blowing up compared to the last couple years.
Nadeshot: Without a doubt! It has grown so fast and exponentially. So I’m glad that we are able to be a part of it.
Alex: Going back to Settling The Beef; do you have a favorite story of where you had beef with someone online, a teammate or another professional player?
Nadeshot: In 2012 for the first ever Black Ops 2 tournament, which Black Ops 2 is still known as the best Call of Duty game as of yet, so the tournament was a pretty big deal. The game released in November and the tournament was set for December, so we only had a month to practice. So you had to be really quick to learn the game mechanics in order to have any chance. We were going against one of my rivals, which I’ve known for about 3-4 years prior to that.
It was one of those classic rival matches. In wrestling they were NWO and we were Hulk Hogan. For baseball, it was like the Yankees vs Red Socks. We both made it to the finals and they were talking trash the whole time. I was really nervous since I was new to the team and I wanted to prove that I could play at this competitive level. We were basically sitting next to each other on stage and we can hear them talking trash throughout the whole game.
We ended up winning the match and our whole team lost our minds! We went to go shake their hands after the match and my rival ended up pushing me on stage! It’s a funny story now since we are great friends now, but back in the day it was very dramatic and it ended up being one my favorite moments in the gaming world where we had to Settle The Beef.
Alex: Definitely got to go watch the replay of this!
Nadeshot: It’s pretty embarrassing but I’m just happy that we are great friends now and we can all laugh at it.
Alex: Now that you have a huge YouTube channel is there another YouTube celebrity that you have beef with?
Nadeshot: I tend to stay away from the beef on YouTube! I’m trying to spread a more positive message. But I always have a little beef with people, like sometimes the community that watches my channel can be very opinionated. Like if I wanted to play a certain way, they will be in the comments telling me what I’ve should’ve done or I should’ve played like this. But there’s always beef when they find out I play on PC as opposed to PlayStation or Xbox. There’s always little things like that, but in the end, I try to keep things as positive as possible!
I tend to stay away from beefing with other YouTube creators. There’s always a chance to collaborate and work together. We are all in it together whether it’s creating entertaining content for everyone to watching or spreading a positive message.
Alex: Great to hear! Where can our fans follow you more at?
Nadeshot: They can find me on:
We are going to be Settling The Beef for Slim Jim TODAY, August 30th from 8PM – 9PM EST.
It’s going to be an hour long conversation of all the trails and tribulations of gaming and finding out where everyone lies on each side of the battle!
Alex: I’ll be looking forward to tuning in. Thank you Nadeshot, I appreciate your time!
