I haven’t played Dungeons and Dragons since I was in the 6th grade, something about puberty made me change my focus… anyway, I will likely start playing a bit again after checking out D&D: Sword Coast Legends. D&D: Sword Coast Legends is a cooperative RPG set to release Q4 of this year on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, and Xbox One. Sword Coast Legends brings all the game-play of classic D&D from the table-top to the virtual world. And I mean ALL. D&D: Sword Coast Legends introduces the Dungeon Master game play element to the D&D gaming series that allows characters to create their own dungeons, creatures, levels, campaigns, stories, etc.
Everything that a Dungeon Master on a table can do, they can do in-game and in real time. Picture four heroes teaming up to tackle a dungeon while one Dungeon Master controls the world they are in, altering paths and opening up new ones. Dungeon Masters (DMs) are able to shape the game and world just as they are on the table-top version, and do so in real time. It is truly gratifying, and tickling, to let players conquer the first couple of rooms to build their confidence then drop a giant poisonous spider on them to break their spirits and greatly reduce their HP only to have the players enter a room full of spider eggs that hatch and finish them off.
DMs could also simply make the game challenging and adjust it accordingly, it’s a matter of personal preference.
