Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 2 Trailer

GameStop, Inc.

The new Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 2 Trailer shows heroes back from the dead and other back for redemption.

Very mixed thoughts running around the noggin for this one. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have unveiled a second video, Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 2, to tease more of the story of Injustice 2Injustice 2 is all about story for me. I’ve read the comics, I’ve beaten the first game (on the easiest mode possible) and… well that’s all you can really do with the story. It is my favorite take on DC in-fighting, and I put it on par with Marvel’s Civil War, but with more focus on the war than the philosophies of each opposing side. I’ve watched this video about 3 times, it has got me excitedly anxious. There are some great new reveals, but also some confusing cuts.

Let me break it the Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 2 trailer:

@0:28 – Canary and Arrow are back! My guess, Dr. Fate brought back Dinah and Olliver from where he left them to live happily ever after, thinking this is where they truly belong.

@0:31 – Hal is a Green Lantern again… Okay, this guy captures the whole core, complicit in the death of multiple guardians, and was a YELLOW LANTERN, and he gets welcome back into the Corps? I call bull butter! No way. Even if his ring still works, there’s no way the Corps should welcome him back. He got Kilowog killed! Screw Hal.

@1:09 – Robin is attacking Batman, which doesn’t make sense because previous trailers have shown them working together. I’m pretty sure it’s Damian as Robin because of the Katana. But he also seems younger than he did at the end of the first game. Does he rejoin the regime and was just working with Batman until a better opportunity presented itself? It’s confusing. I really want answers.

@1:12 – REVERSE FLASH!!!! Pretty sure it Thawn.

@1:21 – Grodd and his Generals: Baine, Cheetah, Ivy, and I don’t know who that is, someone tell me. Anyway, it looks like the fight won’t be just Batman/The League will not just be again Superman/Regime, but also an organized force of capable bad guys. All the voiceover also seems to be implying that Batman will need help.

@1:24 – Cyborg openly states the Regime is making a comeback, and Hal is there to try and stop it. TOO LITTLE TO LATE HAL! He says “Not while I’m wearing this ring.” Like he hasn’t switched sides in an instant before.

@1:36 – Batman and Robin grappling up into the night together, again confusing.

@1:39 – Superman is locked up and proclaiming it is his fight. I’m assuming the larger threat is probably Darkseid, who has come to Earth seeing as Superman has been handled so their agreement has seemingly come to an end.

@1:49 – Superman, “We both knew it would end this way.” Followed immediately by Bruce and Superman engaging in combat.

Very interesting stuff. While I’m thankful for any new information on the story, the Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 2 video raises more questions than it answeres. What’s up with Batman and Robin? Is Grodd doing his own thing, or is he a smaller part of a larger whole? How can Hal be back in the Corps? He was complicit in the death of all the earth Green Lanterns and numerous other ones, the capturing of nearly the entire corps, the death of Ganthet. It would make sense for him to have remained yellow, but attempted to use his fear of never being able to make up for what he has done to do right. But a member of the Corps entrusted by the Guardians? Nah bro.

Though I am more lost than ever, I am more excited for the game. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. The tension is peaking, and the wait only gets shorter.

Injustice 2 releases for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 May 16, 2017. Be sure to pre-order yours to get Darkseid. And be sure to check out the official Forums to join in and discuss what you think is going on.
