Back To The Future #3
If the thought is that changing the past alters the future, this comic series changes it all. So far this beloved hit has changed the comic world’s future. The fresh new take on the time jumping duo has been a ton of fun, it does feel a bit too campy and the artwork and storytelling is a bit choppy. For those into that caricature-like style, this may not be a fit but overall this is more about the fun duo remaining together and continuing their fun adventures. Two stories in one with an opener featuring Doc before Marty goes back to the future which is pretty interesting but I found myself a bit confused. Fun story but this alternate reality is tough to follow.
It’s drawn by Corin Howell and he seems to get Doc right but falls a bit short overall.
The second story is focused on good ole Biff making a pit stop prior to the sports almanac debacle. Both stories look good which helps sell them.
This part was drawn by Alan Robinson who has a nice style and the storytelling in his work is spot on. Great detail and plus, his style improves the overall story. As always, the DeLorean looks great, but this issue falls short in a big way for me. Not good enough…..

ORPHAN BLACK #1
Love, love, love the TV series. I am a huge fan of how the show tells its story. That style of story-telling is what makes the show really solid and entertaining. Yeah, definitely sound like a fan boy.
I started this comic with very high expectations but found that we are basically re-living episode one with not much more meat and potatoes. Tough sell to me, not terrible but definitely not what was expected. The artwork lacks detail and depth which does not bode well for a dark series like this.
My expectations was that we would get a deep dive into this strange and unique world of cloning. More background on the actual clones and how they impact Sarah directly and indirectly.
Not sure if the series will get to that level of story-telling but I am hoping so.
The Verdict – 4.0/10
THE X-FILES: SEASON 11 #5
Another TV series gone comics with great success. X-Files: Season 11
#5 is a stand-a-lone tale focused on the source of Scully and Mulder’s headaches, Gibson Praise…..
I love the style of the story-telling, the art is absolutely on point. This issue just adds to this solid story.
Scully and Mulder really are solid. As for Gibson Praise, be prepared cause they do exist….Love it, the entire issue feels exactly like the TV series.
The Verdict – 8.0/10
The Eighth Seal #1
Three words best express this comic, political thriller extraordinaire! Immediately I was engulfed in this book. We start with the First Lady reading to children and boom she transforms into this scary creature and eats them, nuff said……Insane to say the least but this issue gets better and better as you read through each panel. The Psychiatrists’ calm demeanor, the First Lady’s incredibly haunting visions, her blackouts and fainting issues and the demon-like creature that kills are all insanely addicting.
Then you have school children getting slaughtered and a creepy exchange of her admitting that a part of her found it entertaining. We get admission, guilt and horror rolled into one issue.
This one has it all, great writing, solid and clean artwork and demons, what more can I say. The Eighth Seal is a solid horror story wrapped into a politically motivated story. The opening issue left many questions unanswered but this book is a definite must read.
