Though it only ran for 3 season, the Batman television series starring Adam West and Burt Ward left a lasting impact on the pop culture landscape. Now that we’ve all finally been afforded to opportunity, albeit an expensive one, to own the entirety of the original series on gorgeous Blu-Ray, the dynamic duo of the ‘60s are reprising their roles for an animated feature.
This weekend at the Mad Monster Party in Charlotte, North Carolina, West and Ward revealed the plans for the cartoon continuation of the landmark series (h/t: Collider):
I certainly love just about everything concerning but I have my concerns that the earnest tone of the series is something that can’t be replicated. Once you cross the line into full-blown self-awareness, however, the comedic elements are diminished. That being said, I can’t be too skeptical without seeing a single frame of the project. Either way, Batman ‘66 is coming back in animated form. Eggcellent!
