STORY BY James Tynion IV
ART BY Jeremy Rock
As mentioned in my reviews of issues 1 and 2, this series is something different. Horror with a twist of epic proportions.
We start with the First Lady basically surrounding herself with some nasty people. Individuals that do not have her best interests at heart. This issue finally begins to shed some light on the story. The political backstabbing and sneaky intentions really makes this comic feel like “House of Cards” meets horror. The story also begins to shed some light on the behind the scenes with more details focused on what happens when Greene’s issues hit the public arena.
We get demon possession mixed with a politics, a dream sequence that takes blood and gore to a whole
new level, absolutely epic level, a Chief of Staff and his kid that are incredibly strange and odd, an
extremely odd baby panel and an end that, well, not sure I really think anyone was ready for.
The art for this series really hooked me from day one. Again, it’s very good, very clean and when demons make their appearance, WOW, next level. —sometimes even very good—but not great. His demon/monster stuff, however, is incredible. The simplicity and clean work really makes me feel like I am watching an episode of “House of Cards” as mentioned earlier. You feel like what is on the surface of the characters is not what is underneath them. Better yet inside of them.
