Ghostbusters Game to Release July 12
Sony and Activision just announced Ghostbusters game to be released July 12, 3 days before the movie.
On top of that, Sony and Activision also announced a second Ghostbuster’s game for mobile iOS, Android, and Kindle with Asynchronous Co-op. Now some might see this as typical franchise hype, but after playing Ratchet & Clank I am pretty confident in Sony’s ability to do cross-media promoting well.
The console version of the Ghostbusters game is a third-person action RPG that has players taking control of rookie Ghostbusters for up to 4 player couch co-op. Players can level up their characters’ gear and abilities play finishing tasks, busting some ghosts, and finding collectibles throughout Manhattan. Players will be able to choose from one of four new recruits, each with their own personality and play style.
On mobile, the game is titled: Ghostbusters: Slime City. Players get to play as the cast from the new movie and build their own proton packs, upgrade their headquarters, and complete jobs around the city to capture and collect the ghosts haunting it. The highlight of this is the asynchronous co-op available across devices. Hopefully it’s better than Marvel’s Mighty Heroes game.
Personally, I’m always excited about couch co-op games. Couch co-op games are the ultimate form of gaming with your friends, only slightly beating LAN parties. Something about sitting together to take on a game or the ability to yell in your friends’ for taking the pizza box of health.
Ghostbusters releases July 12 and Ghostbusters: Slime City releases sometime in July.
