Geek Fuel Fuels More Than Just Your Geeky Consumerism

GameStop, Inc.

Geek Fuel is the red box (not Red Box) of “Monthly Mystery Box Of Geeky Goodness.” They are a monthly subscription box full of various items that fuel our geeky appetites. But in the glorious day and age of geekdom that we live in, where we have Batman throw down against Superman or Iron Man against Captain America (#TeamIronMan), we also have a plethora of options to choose from in our monthly mystery boxes. Let’s check out what makes Geek Fuel standout from the rest.

What’s Inside This Month’s Geek Fuel Box

The first thing out of the box, that was beautifully lined with custom branded paper, was a download code for Dinocide.  The presentation of the download code was very appealing, it was like when you buy a physical copy of the game. Being a PC game, there is no real need for a physical copy. Following the game, I pulled out a cool (Geek Fuel Exclusive) DC shirt, which featured boxed views of the eyes of various DC characters. Overall it’s a great shirt, my personal irks with it are Aquaman and who I believe to be Doomsday (I might’ve said Darkseid in the video). First, I still think Aquaman is lame, but I’m a fan of Jason Mamoa, so I believe they should’ve used his likeness. Secondly, I’m not sure who the last set of eyes belong to and that bugs me. After the shirt, I opened up the little vinyl figure. It was Alfred from Batman V. Superman. Then I pulled out a limited edition Juan Muniz print. The print comes with a certificate of authenticity which I thought was a real nice touch. Finally, the topper, Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible the memoir of Stan Lee. It’s a great read of one of the most iconic and influential men in comic books. The book is actually a comic-book/graphic novel, and I can think of no better way to capture and share Stan Lee’s memoirs than that.

Geek Fuel delivers a great range in their products. Despite my qualms with the shirt, it is a cool shirt that I will wear a lot. While the vinyl is lackluster and not unique, everything else in this month’s Geek Fuel box was. I also like the certificate of authenticity that came with the print. If you’ve been to a convention you can walk away with a bunch of prints given away by vendors, or buy some from the numerous artists. The certificate of authenticity from a renown artist adds a really nice touch and makes a great gift if you do not wish to personally keep it. My personal favorite thing about the box was Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible as it is something a bit out there in terms of what people place under the geek/nerd umbrella. It shows a lot of thought and consideration went into the box. The thought and little touches here and there really get me to believe Geek Fuel aims to just fuel more than our geeky consumerism.
