Another early preview at Comic-Con this year was Fox’s Minority Report based off of the characters and world created from the Spielberg directed Tom Cruise movie. The show takes place roughly ten years after the movie with the Precogs now split up and discovering their place in the world. The show mainly follows Dash, played by Stark Sands, who is one of the twin boy Precogs. He believes he can use his ability to save people from murder as he still gets partial visions of them. He will eventually assist Detective Lara Vega (Meagan Good) in preventing murders.
The panel graced the audience with 20 minutes of the pilot, which was just enough to show a bit of the future world and how it has progressed from the film, as well as set up the beginning of the relationships between the characters. Lara Vega is a believer in the Precog program and the good it did, believing it was just ahead of its time, she also has a tense relationship with her superior, Will Blake, played by Wilmer Valderrama. Valderrama said the show will expose their past relationship and what caused the strain in it. It was also announced that Nick Zano will play Dash’s twin Arthur, who receives the other parts of the visions.

The show looks beautiful, and the future presented has technological consultants to keep it grounded. It is also filled with Easter Eggs and references from the producers, actors, and network; it’s applied that “The Simpsons” will still be running in the year 2065. The CGI is very well done, the user interface of technology seems to be similar to what Tony Stark uses in the Iron Man movies. The future technology makes for future stunts; there is a scene with zip line back packs that was extremely captivating. The acting is also on point, but 20 minutes is a bit premature to make a definitive stand as the actors have yet to go through any range. Overall, the show presented nothing but positives.
The downside is that it is another cop show with an exceptional consultant/partner. The twist is that they will be preventing murders rather than solving them, but I’m not sure how many shows with this archetype America can tolerate. Also this is another television show based off of a movie. However Spielberg is producing, and the cast and crew seem to have truly expanded upon the world created by the movie. It also has a pretty solid cast, but then again Nick Zano, as talented as he is, tends to have horrible luck with shows. Hopefully everything else it has going outweighs the Nick Zano curse and turns it around for him.
