Former two-time Bellator MMA World Bantamweight Champion, Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas is stepping back into the Bellator Cage, this time in the Featherweight divison against Juan “The Spaniard” Archuleta, a fighter who is on a 17-fight winning streak. This show-stealing fight takes place on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Madison Square Garden in New York City streaming on DAZN.
We had these five questions for the former champion and here is what he had to say:
FanboyNation (FBN) You are facing Juan “The Spaniard” Archuleta at Featherweight, his primary division. What are some of the challenges you face not only going up a weight class but facing an opponent on a seventeen fight winning streak?
Eudardo “Dudu” Dantas (EDD) My biggest challenge is myself, I see this challenge in another way. I’m happy to be training and feeding super good after training, I see myself as fast as a Lightning Bolt. It’s been an incredible experience. I can not wait for my talent for June 14th.
(FBN) As a two-time former Bantamweight Champion and being 1-2 in your last three fights, will beating Archuleta put you on the road to being in title contention for the Featherweight championship?
(EDD) This fight will lead me to a title dispute. I have been working hard for this.
(FBN) Although this is not your first fight at Featherweight, do you feel healthier and stronger in this division or does the weight class not matter so long as your fighting the best in the world?
(EDD) For sure, I feel stronger and happier. I’m eating very well, but that does not matter. What matters is this journey to the title.
(FBN) Does the mystic of Madison Square Garden add more stakes for this fight against, “The Spaniard” or does the arena have little to do with the thrill of the putting on a great show?
(EDD) FOR SURE this ARENA motivates me a lot for a brilliant victory on June 14th. I’m very excited.
(FBN) Your fights are always exciting to watch, what can we expect to see from you in what is sure to be considered a show stealing bout?
(EDD) All my fans and fans of MMA can expect the Dantas faster, happier and more aggressive and daring. I’m motivated man, I’m back to take everything that belongs to me.
