After four seasons, Felicity Smoak finally gets her own codename. So if it wasn’t obvious, SPOILERS AHEAD.

Felicity becomes the Oracle. Sorry, I mean “Overwatch.” Don’t try to look for her in the DC Comics though because she’s not in there (or at least not that I could find). The name is appropriate since Felicity “overwatches” Team Arrow and they probably couldn’t use “The Watcher” since that’s taken by Marvel. I enjoyed the personal conflict she had in Arrow with her old hacker self. Emily Bett Rickards did an amazing job playing dual roles, talking to herself, and making us love Felicity Smoak more than we already do. However, I am still confused as to how she started hallucinating her hacker self.
Amanda Waller and A.R.G.U.S. returns only to get their butts handed to them. I am personally still attached due to the animated depiction of Waller from the animated Justice League and Justice League Unlimited series because she not only intimidated people, she fought back and was one of the few people to not be intimidated by Batman. Arrow’s Waller does not give the same vibe and I’m disappointed that she went out that easily. With Waller’s history in the comics however, I would not be surprised if she wasn’t really dead.
Damian Darhk stays true to his word from last episode and does not appear to give Team Arrow any trouble in “A.W.O.L.” This gives the writers a chance to write in a new enemy, Shadowspire, and give Andrew Diggle a chance to prove himself to John Diggle. First appearing in Deathstroke #53, Shadowspire’s symbol is a black tower against a red sky set within a black diamond. They’ve done the usual terrorist activities: weapons, illegal trading, passing on information, and drugs. In Arrow, they want to put the world into chaos so that they can take over and rule. Truthfully, with how Shadowspire was integrated into Arrow overall, the episode felt like a filler. We do discover that Baron Reiter was the leader of Shadowspire, so it will be interesting to see if Shadowspire and HIVE will end up being connected in the future.
Summary
A new villain appears to distract us from HIVE. Not as intimidating and feels like a filler episode.
