What was your first Cosplay Experience?

The first time I ever attempted to cosplay was when I went to Sakura Con 2012 in Seattle as Misa Amane from Death Note. Before going to the con I remember hearing about how people dress up as their favorite characters from different fandoms for the conventions, so I basically just bought a wig and pieced together clothing I already had that looked like hers. Although it wasn’t anything super crazy, I met so many awesome people that recognized who I was and had the same love of the characters as I had! I was hooked ever since!

How long have you been Cosplaying?

I started cosplaying in 2012, but I didn’t start making my cosplays from scratch until 2014. I evolved from closet cosplays, to making armor out of foam from scratch!

What is your favorite cosplay you have worn/created?

My favorite cosplay so far is my Nightingale Armor from Skyrim. It was the first cosplay I truly made from scratch, and I’ve had so many amazing experiences making and wearing it. And not only is it my favorite light armor in Skyrim, but it’s the most comfortable to wear!

If you had unlimited resources, what Cosplay would you create?

If I was to pick one, I think I would want to create a Dragon Priest (or priestess in my case) cosplay from Skyrim. There are so many detailed armor sets and outfits in the game, and out of all of my favorites I think the Dragon Priest would require the most material, and I think unlimited resources would come in handy in that case. I also kind of have an obsession with the Elder Scrolls series and feel the need to make everything in the games 😛

What advice would you offer others trying to break into Cosplay?

One of the most common things I experience is the nerves it takes to go to your first con in cosplay. If you’re shy like I am, pick a character you love that has a mask. Another reason why I love my nightingale armor is because people can’t tell how nervous I am behind my mask! And don’t worry about whether or not people will like your cosplay. Pick a character you love and will enjoy wearing it! After all, it is YOUR cosplay. 🙂
