What was your first Cosplay Experience?
ABQ Comic Con 2013- I had my first cosplay experience as a cosplay guest at ABQ Comic Con. This was my first year with my business, Girls of Geek, and I was invited to participate at ABQ Cosplay Row as a featured cosplayer. I was new to the whole experience and it was there that I caught the con bug and have been addicted to cosplay and comic cons ever since! My first cosplay was a weekend full of two of my absolute favorite characters, Harley Quinn and the Joker! I was Harley Quinn the first day and I must say that my now version of the character is so much better than that first day; but I also never had so much fun than I did my first time cosplaying. It was just an eye opener to a world that I belonged in! The following day I cosplayed my first version of my ever so famous, Joker! I have done several versions of the character since.
How long have you been Cosplaying?
Since January 2013- I find cosplay and conventions to be some of the most fun and interactive times of the year. I am addicted to comic cons and am looking to take my business, Girls of Geek, and myself as a cosplayer to more cons around the world!!!
What is your favorite cosplay you have worn/created?
I love being the Joker. I have done a lot of super sexy cosplays and I really like my Joker because it is a more crazy version of my cosplay personality. I have done several versions of this character including a Rave Joker, a classic joker, a burlesque joker but I am currently working on a Joker bunny to wear with the Girls of Geek for a group cosplay! I like gender bent cosplay because you can do so much with the character! I always get a mixed reaction to this character, another reason why I love cosplaying Ms. J!
If you had unlimited resources, what Cosplay would you create?
There are SO many costumes I would create if I had unlimited resources!!!! I honestly can’t name just one off the top of my head!
What advice would you offer others trying to break into Cosplay?
Be yourself! Have fun with cosplay! Go to conventions and meet others! Be safe when in cosplay and mindful of your surroundings! COSPLAY IS FOR EVERYONE!
