What was your first Cosplay Experience?
My first cosplay experience as far as being exposed to it was actually stumbling across convention videos on YouTube. At that time I was really fascinated with Final Fantasy since I was new to it. I tried making my own costume starting with an easy one and made Tifa. That one was hand stitched and I realized at that point I never wanted to hand-stitch something again unless I had to.
How long have you been Cosplaying?
I have been cosplaying for about 4 years, but didn’t get serious about it until 3 years ago around the time I started to go to local conventions.
What is your favorite cosplay you have worn/created?
My favorite cosplay is definitely the League of Legends: Rengar. That one definitely has the most amount of armor I’ve ever made and I spent quite a bit of time working out the kinks. Comfortability was a little hard to achieve with that one,but I’m happy with how it turned out.
I like wearing the wings as well, but I can’t walk through the convention rooms without hitting someone. Those always get wonderful reactions because not everyone has a set of 9 feet wings!
If you had unlimited resources, what Cosplay would you create?
I’m currently moving away from League cosplays and want to try out Diablo or World of Warcraft armor. The details are amazing and I want to challenge myself to make a detailed armor set. Sometime I see the artwork of something and get unmotivated with how hard something looks, but I’m up for the challenge!
What advice would you offer others trying to break into Cosplay?
Love what you do. Love a costume so you can finish it and not hate it midway. Be dedicated and do your best. If you’re buying a costume, that’s fine as well. if you’re better at fabrics than armor, try more fabric-based costumes. Not everything has to be an armored costume. Try lots of different things and learn from your mistakes.
