Last year, True Detective was redefining the extent that hyperbolic praise could be used to describe a television series. Just this past week, True Detective redefined the extent that hyperbolic condemnation could be used to describe a television series. Meanwhile, a television series based upon a perfect movie — a television series that made me cringe when it was first announced — gave True Detective a run for its money in terms of quality and praise. Fargo is gearing up to enter its second season on October 12th, and following the disappointment of True Detective‘s second season is poised to be the TV event of the fall, if not the year. Yeah, I’m being a bit hyperbolic myself there, but the first season of the FX show, which won the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries, astounded me in every available aspect — it was well-written, wonderfully shot, overflowing with great performances, and was really just a lengthy homage to the work of Joel and Ethan Coen, instead of simply retelling one of their most famous stories.
We have a handful of clips from Season 2 of Fargo, which sees a shift in time setting and scenery. Like the first season, Fargo has an impressive roster of talent including Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Ted Danson, and Bruce Campbell as Ronald Reagan. Yeah, you read that right — Ash is playing Ronald Reagan. Allow these clips to act like pancakes, satisfying your hunger for more Fargo until October 12th.
