Eloise Coopersmith Writer and Performer of ‘My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical‘ Talks to us about her run at the Irvine Theater Company.
By day, Eloise Coopersmith is a mild mannered appraiser, residing in Orange County, CA, but by night, she transforms into a thespian, performing as, The Writer in her one woman, multi-media stage show entitled, ‘My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical‘ running at the Irvine Theater Company until August 10, 2024.
Coopersmith watched her first Hallmark movie during the Covid lockdowns and enjoyed the feelings of happiness following her first viewing. It was then that she decided to put pen to paper and penning her own musical about that experience, thus becoming, ‘My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical‘. Coopersmith took all safety precautions by filming the video portion with the other actors at the Chance Theater in Anaheim, CA, creating for herself a well timed and blended performance acting against a screen as the movie portion played out behind her.

Her fanciful Hallmark-esque movie cast, features Nina Herzog as Emma, the girl with big dreams seeking romance and equality. Andrew Joseph Perez as Prince “Holly” Hollister, who wants to be loved for who he is, not for his status, Benjamin Perez as Maestro, the father-figure who raised Emma, but still sees her as a little girl instead of the woman she’s blossomed into. Monika Pena, Maggie Howell (Coopersmith’s daughter) and Sam Labrecque, respectively Patti, Maxine and Laverne, the friends that push her to greatness in saving the show, along with Jim Blanchette, the Tavern Owner, Tess Adams, his daughter Hannah and Jessie and Aaron Pyle as the second-banana, Hallmark couple.
We spoke with Coopersmith about what a Hallmark watch party looks like for her, what advice she would give senior citizens who have sat on an idea for over 40 years to finally sit down and write their manuscript and about the current run of ‘My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical‘ running at the Irvine Theater Company.
‘My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical‘ is a gouda time for all, running from July 26 through August 10, 2024, every Friday and Saturday.
