The Best Part of Waking Up, is Cold Brew In Your Cup – Dripo Review

Faster than standard cold brew, less acidic, better for the tum tum, and tastes better too. – Dripo Review

Recently, I’ve found myself drinking a coffee on a regular basis. Mainly because there’s a Keurig readily available for me, and a monthly coffee subscription of different flavored Keurigs. Also, my old roommate worked at a coffee shop where they sold lots of different types of coffee. This is not to say I’m a coffee expert, but I am definitely in the boat where I know what it’s like to need and want a good cup of joe. I drink my coffee black because I wanted to seem way more mature in high school and I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. Out of all the ways I’ve had black coffee, I think cold brew coffee from The Dripo is my favorite.

The Dripo from gosh!

Dripo ReviewThe Dripo is a Japanese Style Ice Drip Coffee Maker. Through it’s brilliant and elegant design, you are able to have a cold brew coffee in just 2.5 hours. 2.5 hours seems like a long time to wait. Considering minimum wage is $10 an hours and you can buy a coffee for $1.50 at Starbucks, it almost seems like a waste of time. But if flavor is a factor, or the caffeine kick, the coffee produced by The Dripo is worth the wait.

Cold Brew Coffee

A bit about the cold brew coffee. Cold brew coffee is a process of making coffee without heated water. It takes longer, but it is much less acidic because it does not cook the beans. Since it is more alkaline, it is easier on the stomach and has a sweeter taste as well. It also seems to be more potent, but that might be a mental thing. The cold brew process normally takes 12-24 hours.

Ease Use

The Dripo is very easy to use, as you can see from the video above. Measure grounds, wet them, place ice cold water on top, and wait. The pieces perfectly stack without any fuss, and cleanup is just as easy. Everything comes apart, allowing you thoroughly clean it, and snaps back together without any hassle or special techniques. The one downside is that the water dropper clogs pretty easily. I don’t know by what, and maybe it’s the water from the water cooler, but something gets stuck and requires the dumping and cleaning of the water dropper to get it going again. It’s heartbreaking coming back to your Dripo after a long wait and expecting a nice full tumbler of coffe, only to find out it got clogged.

Design

Dripo ReviewThe Dripo is visually pleasing, it has a minimalistic look that screams hipster/trendsetter. It also doubles as a 20oz tumbler. So after you make your coffee, take off the water dropper, remove the grounds holder, and place the tumbler top on the base and you’re off to go. The material is also very durable, and does not stain, which is usually a pet peeve of mine when it comes to plastic containers. The tumbler works out perfectly for coffee in the morning and water cooler refills throughout a day at the office. Lastly, the packaging is brilliant. It comes in a giant milk carton, and opens like one. It has no real significance to the product, other than being a very cool and pleasing aesthetic to the experience.

Taste

The most important part, of course, taste. I drink pretty much any coffee when I need it. Fast food, gas station, instant, any will do. But I do also like to enjoy better quality coffee. The Dripo makes better quality coffee. At the office, we have giant Costco-sized tubs of coffee that isn’t bad, but also not great. It’s probably the equivalent to Folger’s. It’s good, but there a lot of times where I find myself paying the extra for Starbucks because I want some flavor. The Dripo makes regular coffee, tastes a lot better. I’ve tried it with the Costco-coffee, and I’ve opened up a couple K-Cups, and cold brew is just better tasting coffee.

The Verdict

The Dripo Ice Drip Coffee Maker is an awesome product, that makes delicious coffee. It is easy to use, easy to maintain, and also looks cool. The wait may seem long in comparison to traditional methods of getting coffee, but it is the fastest way to make cold brew coffee yourself. The Dripo is perfect product for any coffee drinker.
