I really wanted to love Downsizing. I love that concept in which to finally grow as an individual, you have to shrink down to the size of an action figure.
Paul Safranek (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) make the decision to skip out on the hardships of life and “down size” in order to make live easier. They financially triple their wealth because their expenses would be minimal. However, Paul goes first and Audrey does the greatest Dear John level of ditching her mate by staying full sized.
There are several cute visual jokes and some decent gags, but it just didn’t touch me the way I thought it would have, which was really disappointing. This is another case of playing the notes but not making music.
The Blu-ray bonus features are quite limited and even those didn’t get me excited enough to talk about.
Downsizing comes to Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

The Verdict
In concept, Downsizing is a movie that helps us grow and change even if we are 5-inches tall, but it falls a little short of it’s goal.
