It’s a Lego set over 50 years in the making. The Lego Group today announced that a Wall-E set is on its way, but that’s not what got me excited. They also announced a Doctor Who set, conceived by fan, Andrew Clark, through the Lego Ideas website, and voted on by over 10,000 fans. Clark’s set consisted of multiple Doctors and companions, but it is not known at this time which would make the cut. If I had to guess it would be Capaldi and Coleman, since they are the current actors. A licensing agreement between BBC Worldwide and The LEGO Group should see this set (time) travel into our homes later this year.
“We’re extremely excited to announce that a Doctor Who and a WALL-E set will be released as our next LEGO Ideas fan based sets, congratulations to the designers Andrew Clark and Angus MacLane!,” UK Lego spokesperson Emma Owen commented.
“After receiving over 10,000 votes from the online community and having gone through rigorous toy testing from our expert panel, these awesome sets are on track to be on shelves later this year. The final set designs, pricing and availability are being worked out as we speak, so watch this space for the final details!”
