Sure, his name is Steven Strange, but, man, is he ever living up to his moniker in the new trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch joins the MCU as the eponymous doctor, and this second trailer only goes to show that those who had their doubts about Cumberbatch’s ability to don the cape and goatee (like myself) were pretty much wrong as he seemingly is the perfect embodiment of the Sorcerer Supreme.

For those keeping score at home, Doctor Strange is currently 2-for-2 on the trailers for Scott Derrickson‘s adaptation of the Marvel character. There’s a deft balance on display in these brief glimpses of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest installment, highlighting the eye-popping images of pure psychedelia and still keeping the film’s plot pretty much under wraps. That’s the magic: I couldn’t really tell you what Doctor Strange is about, but I can certainly tell you that I want to see it.
Co-starring alongside Cumberbatch is Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Bendict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, and (my spirit animal) Tilda Swinton. I know there’s been some controversy over the Swinton stepping into the role of The Ancient One, and while I understand these concerns I still have to preach caution as Marvel has been known to subvert expectations on a number of occasions — look no further than the Mandarin reveal in Iron Man 3.
A whole new dimension of oddities and awesomeness will be introduced to the MCU when Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4th, 2016.
